YOKE

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” ‭‭(Matthew‬ ‭11‬:‭28‬-‭30‬ ‭NIV‬‬)

A yoke is a wooden bar or frame by which two draft animals (such as oxen) are joined at the heads or necks for working together. Jesus told us to take His yoke. I picture this beautifully, taking the yoke of the King of Kings, our Saviour, our Lord, being in His presence, walking side by side with Him. No wonder the promise that comes with taking His yoke is so beautiful - rest for our souls. How do we yoke with Jesus?

Y - yield to God’s will (“not my will but Yours be done”)
O - obey God, anytime and all the time
K - keep on trusting God (steadfast faith)
E - enjoy the presence of the Lord
